Staten Island twenty-year-old producer/singer/writer ZAXX breathes new life into The Chainsmokers’ “Sick Boy” with his cinematic take on the track. His remix flips the darkness of the original track into a stunning and euphoric new light through breathy synths. ZAXX’s ambient inspired remix showcases his true ability to become a musical chameleon within the world of dance music. Between the first airy drop and the second hard-hitting, bass-driven counterpart, ZAXX’s masterful grasp on production is ever-present in his newest remix.
“I had a ton of fun remixing this record for The Chainsmokers. I think it’s a perfect representation of the direction that my sound is headed. I’m trying to portray a more meaningful and experimental style with my new music, and I hope that this remix gives a good idea of where that sound may be heading.” – ZAXX
The story behind “Sick Boy” goes one step deeper for ZAXX. Hailing from the East side of America, the young producer will soon venture off to the West side of America and settle down, marking a new chapter in his life. The risk behind the move, as well as the risk behind ZAXX’s new style sets the stage for the journey ZAXX plans to take in 2018, both in life and in his musical endeavors.
Greg Zaccagnino, the mastermind behind ZAXX, started making music during his early high school years and hasn’t looked back since. By his junior year, ZAXX had his first college tour under his belt. Since then, he’s collaborated with artists like KSHMR, released solo material on Tiesto’s imprint Musical Freedom, and accumulated millions of streams — over 20 million of which come from his remix of The Chainsmokers’ “Roses” alone. During a recent hiatus, ZAXX focused on producing music highlighting his true talents, whether that be producing timeless melodies or singing and writing his own songs. ZAXX’s musical evolution has taken place, and the world is ready to hear. Let’s see where ZAXX belongs.
