Noy Enlists Sophiegrophy For Bass and Hip-Hop Crossover Single “Too Busy”
Genre-defying Australian DJ/producer NOY has been one of the most impressive multi-genre artists to come out of Queensland, Australia in recent times. His production can vary across all spectrums of bass, and has received strong support from Australia’s premiere National radio station Triple J while also gaining interest from labels like Night Bass, AIA, and BE RICH. In a performance setting, he’s performed alongside superstar artists like Skrillex, Justice and Marshmello and was even requested to DJ for hip hop / movie star Jaden Smith. You will frequently find his name on the festival touring circuit also, making regular appearances at Australia’s biggest events like Splendour In The Grass and Listen Out.
Last month Noy collaborated with fellow Australian Jordan Burns on their 3-track Like Me EP which was released on AC Slater’s Night Bass Records. The EP starts the groove quickly with “Like Me” and doesn’t let up through the second track and my personal favorite, “None Of Its Real,” which is a driving and undeniable house anthem. The two Australian standouts build to a climax in the project with the bass heavy and hypnotic final track, “Movin.”
Sophiegrophy is riding high after the release of her May 2020 BOLD EP featuring singles, “Evol” and “Boii.” She has held solid positions in all the biggest national Hip Hop & Viral Chart playlists over a multitude of her own genre-defining trap anthems like “Bag” and “Fa$t Life,” or features on forward-thinking international club tracks like 2018s “All For The Gram” with Walker & Royce, this February’s “Bounce Back” with J. Worra & Codes, and most recently, “Fall Back” with Kendoll and AC Slater. On August 28 she will team up with Noy to release their new single, “Too Busy,” which beautifully blends elements of both of their respective worlds, Hip Hop and House. Sophie’s sultry, echoing vocals are paired with Noy’s signature, tastefully earth-shattering bass house for a product that showcases both their strengths beautifully.
“I’ve always enjoyed the whole spectrum of bass music, so I was really excited to step out of my production comfort zone and create a mid-tempo / moombahton influenced track. After fine tuning the demo, I then really wanted to land the perfect vocal. I was always leaning towards a strong female vocal as I felt it would align perfectly with the music bed!
I’ve wanted to work with Sophiegrophy for a long time now after catching one of her live performances. I sent the track over to Sophie and what she sent back was amazing, I loved how she pushed the boundaries and delivered something a little different to her usual sound. It was undeniable that there was a big vibe to this all coming together; even playing the track as a teaser at my shows before the pandemic… the response was insane. I can’t wait for the track to be officially released on Be Rich and hopefully be able to play it out again in clubs and festivals sooner rather than later! 🙂” – Noy
