Last year, Tom Prior continued to confidently carve out a name for himself with the release of his EP ‘The Sunday Scene’ which amassed over half a million combined streams and highlighted his potent, genre bending and defying music, his distinctively arresting vocal and one of a kind ability to deliver gripping stories. This year the north London raised singer-songwriter started to take things to the next level with the release of his brand new single, the infectious ‘Sundays’ (out now on Island Records) and once again he is moving it up a notch with the Philip George remix of the track.
Previously mixing a throwback British rock sound with euphoric instrumentals and showcasing Tom’s impressive song-writing talent and unique ability to create addictive melodies and hooks, the popular UK and DJ Philip George – best known for his 2014 single ‘Wish You Were Mine’ which peaked at number two on the Official Charts – has given the track an uplifting dancefloor ready remix.
Tom recently performed the track to rave reviews at his much-talked about shows at Huw Stephens Presents at The Social and Servant Jazz Quarters which followed last year’s spectacular sold-out show at Sebright Arms.
Released last year, Tom Prior’s ‘The Sunday Scene’ EP is a collection of four heartfelt tracks which reminded everyone that Tom is not just ‘one to watch’ but he is here to stay. Featuring a collaboration with Sticky Blood’s Andy Nicholson (Arctic Monkeys) and Jamie Shield on the epic ‘Flashing Amber’ and instant favourites such as ‘Looks Like Rain’ – which has received hundreds of thousands of streams since late last year – Tom unveiled three different versions of the EP. In addition to the original studio collection, Tom released ‘The Sunday Scene Lock In Sessions’ which saw him team up with a wealth of up-and-coming British talent including Haus, Jake Isaac, Lauren Aquilina and Prose to reinterpret the tracks live at Ray Davies’ KONK Studios, whilst ‘The Sunday Scene Unplugged’, featured breath-taking acoustic performances of the EP.
In 2014, Tom released the ‘Paint the Ceiling Blue’ EP which along with its lead track ‘Take It All’ helped him to cause some serious waves in the industry. After appearing on Radio 1’s Live Lounge earlier this year with Naughty Boy and Little Simz, Tom proved why he has garnered support from artists such as Paloma Faith, Tinie Tempah, Labrinth, Maverick Sabre and Arctic Monkeys and titles including Earmilk, Clash, Hunger, Hypetrak, Wonderland and The Line of Best Fit. With more new music and electric, must-see stage performances to come, there is no doubt that Tom is set to take this year and beyond by storm.
