Innervisions Announces 1st LA Showcase: Dixon, Âme, Trikk + Eagles & Butterflies
Innervisions Los Angeles | May 18, 4-11pm | 21+ | $35-55
Âme (DJ), Dixon, Trikk and Eagles & Butterflies
Innervisions, the label founded by Dixon and Âme, is heading West. The storied Berlin label, famed for their distinctly emotive and psychedelic take on house and techno, will bring to life a former grand dame city park in Downtown Los Angeles this May.
Innervisions Los Angeles, produced in partnership with Future Primitive, is the label’s first official showcase in the city, and will feature Dixon, a DJ set from Âme’s Kristian Beyer, Trikk, and Eagles & Butterflies for extended open-air performances set against the skyline of Los Angeles.
Innervisions events are famed for a sense of time and place, they most recently took over London’s Royal Albert Hall, their collaborative party with Life and Death, Rakastella, popped up on a secluded Florida key during Art Basel, and their roving Lost In A Moment series has touched down on remote islands, mountain sides, ancient castles and nature reserves.
Innervisions events, though distinct, are always driven by a sense of occasion, and a burning desire to produce something unique, that captures and observes some essence of the locality. The LA event pairs the joy of dancing under a Southern California midsummer sunset, the drama of LA’s cinematic skyline and the history and discovery of seeing an iconic LA urban park reimagined for one night only.
Dixon has been building his name and plying his craft since the 90s in Berlin, an obsessive DJ with an incredible attention to detail, his emphasis on rigorous selections and emotion over function, have turned himself and Innervisions into two of the biggest names in dance music, earning him four consecutive number one spots on Resident Advisor’s top 100 poll. He has seamlessly bridged the worlds of fashion and music with his Together We Dance Alone clothing brand, collaborations with Japanese company Sacai and most recently being featured in Virgil Abloh’s BOYHOOD campaign for Luis Vuitton.
Fellow label founder and one half of Âme, Kristian Beyer, will also be showcasing the signature Innervisions sound in an expansive DJ set. In 2001 Beyer and Frank Wiedemann came together to make music as Âme, responsible for defining releases like Rej, Fiori, Tatischeff and Howling, which pushed and explored the outer boundaries of deep, cinematic, emotive house and techno. Âme released their debut album Dream House in 2018, an evocative home listening journey enacted after a decade spent crafting dancefloor weapons. With master selector and flawless mixer Beyer behind the decks for Âme’s DJ performances, and Wiedemann performing as Âme Live, the duo has become a driving force in shaping the future sound of electronic music.
Trikk is a part of Porto’s burgeoning creative moment, emerging from the city’s new underground, he turned heads ears with releases on Hot Flush, ManMakeMusic and Pets Recordings, before relocating to London and catching the ears of Innervisions. This will be only his second LA show.
Eagles & Butterflies closes out the billing. He’s known for transcending boundaries in flowing, introspective productions like his anthemic ‘The Last Dance,’ the rising talent has carved a niche of his own in the underground with his Art Imitating Life imprint. He’s additionally clocked in numerous releases on Bedrock, Get Physical, and more. Innervisions most recently released Eagles & Butterflies’ Imitations of Life EP and the Secret Weapons Part 11 compilation, making him a sound fit for the label’s debut LA showcase.
Future Primitive is an LA production company committed to creating unique experiences with the world’s leading underground electronic music talent.
