Hey Freedo, where in the world are you right now?

Right now, I’m in London for writing sessions.

How did you get into music and when did you know you wanted to do this for a career?

My Grandpa was a music teacher and orchestra conductor. He used to set up the tape machine with a microphone in the living room and recorded my brother and me singing songs and playing the grand piano. I still have some of those tapes, they’re hilarious! As a teenager, I discovered hip hop and DJing and soon started to DJ at clubs. It always fascinated me how music touches people, especially large crowds. So, I began dreaming about doing this for a career after my first DJ gig.

What’s the best part about living in Switzerland?

To be close to my family and friends. Everything is close in Switzerland.

Your latest single ‘Keep Your Love On Me’ features Gabriella Vixen. How did you guys meet? What do you love about her vocals?

We met in a session in London, she did demo vocals for a song I was working on and I loved her voice right away. Her mix of soulful power and soft emotion makes it so special.

You produced Zara Larsson’s ‘Lush Life’. What’s the secret to making a number 1 single?

There are a lot of factors that lead to that… Having incredible collaborators is one of the keys for sure. Being at the right place at the right time helps as well.

What other artists are inspiring you at the moment?

My friends GREY from LA are constantly pushing the boundaries of both electronic and pop music with refreshing songs, very inspiring. And Post Malone.

If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be?

If I could pick one (that is still alive today) I’d say Rihanna.

Besides music what are some of your passions and interests? We heard you love Eastern mythology…

Yes, I’m very interested in Asian culture and mythology, it’s fascinating and inspirational. I always wanted to learn Kung Fu, that’s on my list.

If you could plan your own festival who would be your top 5 headliners?

I would definitely invite some good friends to have a good time, so GREY, DJ Katch and Bright Lights. Furthermore I’d love to see a Daft Punk show, so I’d book them. Also Rihanna so I can meet her and plan a collaboration!

What can we expect from Freedo for the rest of 2018?

A bunch of new music, originals, remixes and productions for other artists. I’m super excited for what lies ahead!
