Nan Man & Korin Ladke

Where are you from?

How long have you been producing?
6 months

What and who were some of your early inspirations in becoming an electronic dance music artist?
We like Disclosure, Air, Royksopp, LCD Soundsystem.

Where do you pull inspiration from while in the studio and working on new productions?
Mostly we just have fun in the studio trying to make all of our analog gear do interesting things. We try to incorportate elements that sound like score that gives Chez Moon cool atmosphere layers on top of pop vocals and bouncy basslines.

What is your favorite track ever produced and what track meant the most to your career?
“Midnight Love” is both of our favorites. Sometimes songs write themselves and this one just poured out of us. It’s coming soon on Clair De Lune records.

What inspired your recent release ‘Games’?

We were talking about how dumb releationship games are. Especially when you first meet somebody you like. We both think it would be better if everyone just went with their gut feeling and jumped hard into taking a chance on someone over playing games. What’s the worst that can happen? Just break up if it does not work out but we think it’s a bigger loss to miss out on someone who could be the one over what you or people think is expected in dating.

With the industry being so oversaturated, do you feel like it is harder to maintain an original sound and why?
I’m not sure if our sound is original. I don’t think a sound has to be original it just has to be done well. There are a million pizza places and we are not talking about rocket science when it comes to what makes up a pizza but some are amazing and some are terrible. We think we are making something that is qualitity and are in a unique situation that we do everything from top to bottom. It’s us writing the music, playing the instruments, writing the lyrics and then singing them too.

What are some of the advantages you notice in the production process as a duo rather than solo artist?
Mostly it’s just about keeping the energy up. Time flies when you have someone to bounce ideas off of or take the lead and push the song in a new direction.

What other electronic artists are inspiring you at the moment?
Childish Gambino, Carl Craig, Classixx, The Avalanches, Radiohead,

If you could collab with any artist who would it be?
Would be fun to do a song with Bjork!

What can we expect from you for the rest of 2016?
We are finishing songs up now for 2017!

Besides music what are some of your passions and interests?
Skateboarding, dancing, cooking, traveling, hanging with family, films.

If you could plan your own festival who would be your top 5 headliners?
Daft Punk, Cassius, Justice, Air, Phoenix
