Danielle and Gabrielle Verderese
Where are you from originally and where do you reside now?
Born in New York, grew up in Florida and live in Los Angeles now.
How long have you been producing / DJing?
Been making music for eight years we are vocalists/songwriters as well. Been DJ’ing for three years.
What and who were some of your early inspirations in becoming an electronic artist?
We were already making electro pop music and heavily influenced by Lady Gaga before we were introduced to edm. Living in Miami at the time we were into Swedish House Mafia, Steve Aoki and after hearing Skrillex in the early days of dubstep that really made us fall in love with the scene and find our home.
What has been you favorite release at this point and what production has been the most influential to your career?
Our tune “Want It All” that was released in July 2016 was definitely our favorite to date. We shot a music video for that one which premiered on Trap Nation and has over half a million plays. It’s an anthem track and goes off live at shows.
What was the process like in choosing the tracks and artist for your recent ’Start Again’ Remix EP?
We really wanted to recruit artists on the come up for the Remix EP. We already had a couple on board who asked to put their flip on it but we wanted it to be organic so we made a tweet and the fans tagged artists they wanted to see remix. That led to us getting a few more. All 5 artists were really hyped about the track and said it was some of their best work to date, which was dope.
Do you find that being a duo gives you an advantage in production and performing?
A little bit yeah, it is definitely nice having two of us since creatively and with our live show it is a lot to handle. We always say that it must be tough being a solo artist.
What and where do you pull inspiration from for new productions while in the studio?
Mostly experiences good and bad. We like to pull the emotion out of what we’re going through when creating new music. That keeps it real and people can connect and relate to that in their own lives.
Having the advantage of being vocalist, how does that impact your production process?
It’s a cool process of how we build our tracks. We don’t just write to a basic piano melody because there’s no inspiration in that. We like to have the production at enough of a base where you feel something and that creates the concept of the lyrics. We naturally just feel it out, track vocals and put the arrangement together and then go back and build around that to complete the production.
What inspired the name ‘2Faced’ and what can listeners expect from the 2Faced Mix Series?
Well there being two of us and two sides to us as well. We’re known for heavy bass music but we also enjoy and make big melodic tunes too. Expect the unexpected every time!
You played some huge festivals this summer. What would be your favorite festival moment and why?
Dancefestopia. Due to weather and technical issues we overcame some big obstacles. Stay tuned for the recap/documentary of our experience coming soon. 😉
Statistics show that EDM is primarily a male-dominated industry. Has being a female affected the course of your career in anyway?
We only see ourselves as being equal.
Do you have any advice for upcoming female producers/DJs who are just getting started in the industry?
Don’t be timid, work hard and push to prove yourself and you will earn respect.
What other electronic artists are inspiring you at the moment?
The Chainsmokers because of how far they are pushing the boundaries which has always been our goal so it’s cool to see people you are actually friends with have so much success and remain humble as well.
If you could collab with any artist who would it be?
What can we expect from you for the rest of 2016?
Some visual content that might come as a surprise and we may have one more music release before the end of the year. Stay tuned we got some exciting things to come.
Besides music what are some of your passions and interests?
We’re trained dancers, that was always our first passion. A little into fashion and dope clothing brands. We both have an obsession with scary movies and sushi.
If you could plan your own festival who would be your top 5 headliners?
