Breakaway Music Festival Expands to Six Cities in 2020
One of North America’s fastest growing multi-city music festivals, Breakaway Music Festival, has announced its complete 2020 calendar, expanding to six US markets including Columbus, OH; Grand Rapids, MI; Charlotte, NC; Nashville, TN; and, for the first time, Washington D.C. and San Diego, CA. Breakaway Music Festival offers attendees industry-leading headliners right into their backyards while providing a solution to rising festival prices.
Over its rapid rise, Breakaway Music Festival has cemented its reputation as one of the nation’s most tastemaking event brands by bringing the biggest names in music to sold out venues of tens of thousands in America’s heartland markets.
“Our mission has always been to provide real fans with a true music festival experience, at a price they can actually afford,” said Adam Lynn, Breakaway co-founder. “We’re thrilled to bring Breakaway back for 2020 and even more so to expand our presence into the San Diego and Washington D.C. markets. Stay tuned for lineups and programming in the next couple of months.”
Past standout Breakaway bookings have included visionary and Grammy-winner Kendrick Lamar, renowned veteran DJ Kaskade, pop powerhouse Halsey, lyrical wunderkind Khalid, electro-giants Odesza, and chart-topping hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa. Top-tier billing has also delivered the likes of electronic icons FISHER and Alison Wonderland, hip-hop heavyweight Chance the Rapper, and international superstars Galantis and Diplo.
Breakaway festivals have also played host to iconic artists such as Platinum rapper Future, traplord RL Grime, “Gucci Gang” Legend Lil Pump, indie-rock duo 21 Pilots, Astroworld kingpin Travis Scott, rapper/producer Blackbear, and multi-platinum recording artist Zedd. The stage has further been graced by Atlanta-trap star Playboi Carti, bass-gods Bassnectar and Ekali, Forbes 30 Under 30 ILLENIUM, Chicago-based electronic pop production duo, Louis the Child, “Worlds” mastermind Porter Robinson and many more.
Locations for Breakaway festivals are always carefully chosen, targeting emerging US markets in need of their own flagship events at affordable prices. This year, Breakaway will return to Columbus, OH (8/28 – 8/29), Grand Rapids, MI (8/28 – 8/29), Charlotte, NC (9/11 – 9/12), and Nashville, TN (10/9 – 10/10). With further national expansion in mind the brand will debut this year in Washington D.C. (9/25-9/26), and San Diego, CA (11/13-11/14).
Breakaway has also announced their partnership with renowned global clubbing and hospitality leader Drai’s Las Vegas on an elevated Breakaway VIP experience across all festival locations. The experience will provide the same attention to the VIP guest experience that it does at its premiere Beachclub and Nightclubs in Las Vegas and Dubai.
“I’m happy to be partnering with the fastest growing festival group as they expand across the country,” said Dustin Drai, vice president of entertainment at Drai’s Las Vegas. “For me it’s exciting to see our brands aligned together and making a splash in live entertainment. The VIP experience our teams will be bringing to life at each Breakaway will be up to the high caliber that we hold ourselves to here at Drai’s. You won’t want to miss it!”
In keeping with Breakaway’s commitment to a heightened fan experience, the festival will meet the demand for new water refill stations, faster lane entrances into the event, and increased numbers of restrooms and VIP trailers. Riding off the success of the Roller Disco in 2019, Breakaway will be amplifying their brand activations and attractions across all markets. Each Breakaway market will have its own distinct and meaningful food experience that will be inspired by and sourced from local vendors and food trucks that are masters in their own regional fare. Additionally, fans can look forward to a brand-new, cutting-edge merch range that will be available for purchase through the Breakaway website and onsite, stay tuned for sneak-peaks and further updates.
