Bad Royale Joins Forces with Richie Loop on ‘Lock Off Di Dance’ on Dim Mak
Combining dancehall and twerk into a powerful one-two punch, Bad Royale joins forces with Jamaican vocalist Richie Loop on “Lock Off Di Dance,” premiered today on Run The Trap. Led by chopped-up robotic lyrics suspended over a rising riddim, the single climaxes into an electro-fueled heater. “Lock Off Di Dance” arrives just in time for Bad Royale’s winter run on Steve Aoki’s Kolony US Tour.
Bad Royale is coming off a momentous year. They played a major role in Steve Aoki’s critically acclaimed hip-hop album Kolony, collaborating with Aoki on tracks “No Time (feat. Jimmy October)” and “$4,000,000 (feat. Ma$e and Big Gigantic).” Last summer the group joined Aoki and Ma$e for a televised performance of “$4,000,000” on Live with Kelly and Ryan. They also spent months on the road, playing Electric Zoo and gracing international Dim Mak stages at Tomorrowland and in Montreal before ending co-headlining their Summer Sound System tour alongside Henry Fong.
With releases on Atlantic, Ultra, Anjunabeats, Toolroom, Spinnin’, Buygore and Mad Decent, Bad Royale has come a long way since debuting in 2015. Their music has pushed the boundaries of dubstep, bass, moombahton, and seen the California-based group collaborate with acts such as Major Lazer, Diplo, Skrillex, Meghan Trainor, T-Pain, and Aloe Blacc. Recently Bad Royale signed to Polydor/Interscope and also created their own sub label “Rude Mood,” to promote music in the Caribbean and help local artists find international success.
